Law 1

Just as physical laws govern the material universe, there are spiritual laws that govern our relationship with God.
God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
God’s Love
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)
God’s Plan
Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10, NIV)
——
Why do most people not experience this abundant life?
Law 2

Because of sin, people are separated from God, so they cannot know and experience God’s love and his plan for their lives.
People Are Sinful
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, NIV)
God created people to enjoy being with him. But each of us has stubbornly gone our own way and turned our back on God, and so we are separated from him. This self-willed attitude, whether it shows as indifference or open rebellion toward God, is what the Bible calls sin.
Separated from God
“For the wages of sin is death” (spiritual separation from God). (Romans 6:23, NIV)
A holy God and sinful people are separated by a great gulf. People keep trying to reach God and the abundant life in their own ways, such as good works, morality, religion, or philosophy, but they never get there.
——
The third law gives us the only answer to this problem…
Law 2
Law 3

Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for our sin. Through him you can know and experience God’s love and his plan for your life.
Jesus Died for Us
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, NIV)
Jesus Rose from the Dead
“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, … he was buried, … he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and … he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time.” (1 Corinthians 15:3–6, NIV)
Jesus Christ Is the Only Way
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6, NIV)
God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. He became the bridge between God and people, spanning the gulf between them.
——
Knowing these three laws is not enough
Law 4

Law 4
We must personally receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of our lives. Then we can know and experience God’s love and his plan for our lives.
We Must Receive Christ
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12, NIV)
We Receive Christ Through Faith
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8–9, NIV)
When We Receive Christ, We Receive New Life
We Must Personally Invite Christ into Our Hearts
Jesus said, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.” (Revelation 3:20, NIV)
Receiving Christ means turning from ourselves to God and trusting Christ to come into our lives, forgive our sins, and make us the people God wants us to be. Agreeing with the truth about Christ in our minds, or having an emotional experience, is not enough.
Receive Jesus as Your Savior
–
If you are willing, you can receive Jesus right now through prayer
(Prayer is simply talking with God.) God knows your heart. He cares more about the attitude of your heart than about your words.
You can pray this prayer:
“God, I need you. I open the door of my heart and receive Jesus as my Savior and the Lord of my life. Thank you for forgiving my sins. Please take charge of my whole life and make me the person you want me to be. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
